Rebecca Solnit I love Solnit. Read “A Paradise Built in Hell” when you get a chance. We’ve been fed the idea that we don’t know what’s best for ourselves, how to take care of eachother. These notions are amplified and imposed all the more during natural and man-made disasters. Self-determination is seized, neo-colonialism runs rampant, and the people most directly affected by disasters are forced to not only save themselves and rebuild, but fight external self-professed saviors at the same time. Fuckin’ love this book. |
